Recommend a used 5 string bass

Man I don’t know if it’s covid but there are a bunch on reverb in that price range. For example

unfortunately I just blew all my funds on some new studio monitors. Picked up a good deal on some APS Klasiks 2020s. Supposed to be a step up from even the Adams A7x.

So a bass is next but probably a month out which will give me plenty of time to window shop

You said you were looking for $1K or less. If you find a Stingray 5 for under $1K either something is wrong with it (bad shape) or someone is desperate for money. There is only 1 on Reverb under $1200 and its pretty rough.

I bought the Ibanez SR405 today. It's way better than my old SR590.
Easy to play, great sound and seems to be able to do everything I want. But time will tell.

I have that same exact bass but in a 4 string. Dunno why parts of the listing say it's German because it's a RockBass that's made in China. I love it. Those knobs they put on it look ugly though.
I didn't realize it was a rockbass. Mine is a German Corvette Proline, actually the same model, year, color... as this one but mine is in better condition.

Not sure why the resale value is at Rockbass prices, but I paid $700 which seems average. Maybe the Proline or double "J" models just weren't as popular.

I have a couple SR305's I use them in church and for tracking, sounds fine with active CAP pickups. I am looking into maybe upgrading but not sure how much it's worth it, bass is not my main instrument even though I do it alot. I may pickup a Prestige 3005 used, I also hear many people love the older 505s. Good luck.
