Really dumb MIDI/expression question

I'm positive this is spelled out in the manual, but I'm a complete MIDI noob - i like the word "midiot" - so I am all sorts of confused.

It's a 2-part question...

1) MIDI PLAYBACK QUESTION: Is it possible to pre-program MIDI data into my DAW, in a way that can re-create (on the FM9) what I would normally do with an expression pedal?

2) MIDI WRITE QUESTION: Is it possible to play my FM9, and "record/encode" my expression pedal movements into my DAW?

I obviously need to RTFM on this, but I'm just trying to find out if it's possible before I waste any more time trying to sort this out.

Regarding #2, I assume this also means you can't read MIDI data from the "knob" value being controlled? IE - let's say we're talking about a wah sweep, there's no way to record the movement of that 'position' slider? I assume this is what you mean, just want to make sure.

Correct.

You can use a midi expression pedal or an expression pedal connected to a midi controller.
