Re-amping for a friend's band

I'm doing a little re-amping for my friend's band. The DI files are 44.1kHz and stereo (yep, don't ask me why). Should I split the stereo files to mono or just reamp with stereo input? Does it affect the sound? What about the fact the files are on different sample rate?

I'm trying to avoid major pitfalls before starting so please share your thoughts if you have experience on these things.
