R.I.P. Scott Adams (Dilbert Creator)

I'm not a real fan either, but I have been exposed to my share of Dilbert cartoons, and I can't remember ever having seen a proper bad one. I just wasn't the real target audience, but I know quality when I see it.

A sad day for cartoon fans and humourists everywhere.

Sad indeed. I was a huge fan back in the day when I was working a corporate job. You could tell Scott had done his time in the trenches before becoming a professional cartoonist.

I must say, however, that having read a couple obits and comments about his utterings beneath them, I suddenly don't feel just quite as "bereaved" as when I first reacted. 😐

It seems the quality and humor I associate with the older Dilbert strips I've seen took a... turn, towards the end.

Still doesn't mean he deserved cancer, though.

Do pay attention to the sources that are repeating the negative stuff, and ask yourself if you want to take their word for it, or would you rather seek out what he actually said and decide for yourself?

Gee, thanks, Dad! 🤡☮️

Rest assured that I usually do, and in this case I have seen enough being posted alongside the commentary that I feel satisfied that I've done my due diligence.

TL;DR: What Dave said.

I only knew of the many years of classic Dilbert comics and wasn't aware of any of the political stuff. His parting message to the world seems like a fairly classy way to exit this life, and he seems humble and grateful for the chance to make a statement to define his legacy on his way out.

I actually became a much bigger admirer of him after the scum of the earth tried to ruin him. He was much too enlightened for those who only know how to destroy.

I’m saddened to see this thread almost took a turn for the worse.

I had heard he was going to try and do his podcast, but then said he can’t because he’s going to die today…and he did. I only hope I can be that tranquil when I go. Not even adding severe pain from disease.

I believe it was AT&T or possibly Pacific Bell where he got that exposure.
This was confirmed on the radio this morning.

He worked at Pacific Bell.

What I was surprised by was that he worked in the Bishop Ranch facility in San Ramon, California.

I worked literally right across the street from those offices (now AT&T) from 2010 until last year. Of course, he was long gone from Pac Bell by then but still a small world!
