R.I.P. Chuck Negron (83 years old)

I was a big fan of TDN, mostly from my older sister playing them continuously when I was probably 5 or 6. She just relayed a story to me where her and couple other friends took a bus in 9th grade to a nearby college to see them. Franklin & Marshall (F&M) in Lancaster, PA. This must have been 1970.

Chuck had some rough times with addiction, but got himself together. When he was in good form he could really sing.

Can you imagine being a professional singer at his level with COPD, performing with glasses that fed oxygen through hidden tubes in the frames? Wild. You do what you gotta do.

They were really great live, early in their career , they played in the rock shed of my youth(Majestic Hills in Southern Wisconsin) several times during their hard -touring days..KIckass guitarist.

I had not known about this. Although I guess I should have questioned because I knew he struggled with lots of health issues yet was still singing.

I loved Three Dog Night. Still play One in my show.
In Junior High i translated Joy to The World into German and played it at a festival with an Oompah band. Someone out there out geek that one!

Not looking good for this summers Kool Oldies concert. One Dog Night with The Monkey and The Carpenter.

Another legend gone. I remember trying to figure out those vocal harmonies back in the day and failing miserably—those guys were on another level. @Xrocker, that German Oompah story is absolute gold! Thanks for the laugh in a sad thread. RIP Chuck, thanks for the music.
