Question about usb and midi

I need to send midi signals from my computer to another piece of gear in my rack. Can I send them via the usb connection to my FX II and pass them through the midi out port of my FX II, thereby using the FX II like a usb to midi converter? If I can do that I'll be able to set things up this weekend without having to order and wait for a dedicated converter.

Yes. Use the Out/Thru port on the Axe and in the I/O MIDI menu turn USB Adapter Mode to On

Update: I played with this yesterday and could not get it to work until I changed the "send realtime sysex" on the midi menu to "none". Once I figured that out things went very smoothly. I am posting this just in case someone else runs into the same problem.

Ahh that makes sense because the Realtime SysEx would be sent thru to the other device which won't know what to do with the data.
