PRS SE tuning problems

Yep, that sounds like my situation. I guess next up is a nice Graphtech Tusq XL nut.

The list of fixes on this SE keeps getting longer. Time to put the S2 Standard on the stand and order a bunch of parts for the SE after I cool off.

You can pick up a decent set of files for about $100 if you're inclined to work on your own guitars. Those PRS nuts come pre slotted. The tech I used to go to replaced a nut on one of my guitars and told me that. That's all he did was remove the old one, clean it up and glue in the new one, nothing else. The only reason he replaced it was that he mangled mine without asking me first. The guitar was in for a fret job. Also why I'll never go back. His high prices are why I bought the files in the 1st place. The PRS pre slotted nut needed to be cleaned up because the tuning was crap afterwards. So I used the files to clean them up, same one's I used on my SE DGT. Good investment.

Had the exact same issues with my 35TH ANNIVERSARY SE CUSTOM 24. I was also on the verge of giving up until I replaced the nut with the GraphTech mentioned above, and installed a Hipshot Tremsetter. Both were relatively easy to do myself and after fine tuning the Tremsetter all issues are gone. Worth a try.

Ive never needed to add anything to a prs trem to get it to work properly, but im not really a trem user. I’ll pull with my fingers to use it lol. But a proper setup is going to be the ticket. This includes checking the bridge saddles for burs, making sure parts that move do so properly, making sure parts that dont move stay still and any screws arent stripping from using wrong sized tools.

I used to use Tremsetters years ago. Since then I've been using ESP Arming Adjuster style tremelo stabilizers. Works on the same principles
of the Tremsetter, but it's a 100 times better design. Also, you don't have to drill that little hole in your guitar body for the
thin rod of the tremsetter. Just 4 very tiny screw holes.

Single (what I usually use in the middle with 4 springs)

Double:
