I just picked up a Seymour Duncan Powerstage mini-power amp and gigged with it last night. I can't say enough good things about the unit, and I've had and sold multiple Quilter powerblocks of various sizes and I think the Powerstage feels more tubelike. The only possible issue is that, while the Powerstage does have very responsive EQ controls, it's also very uncolored when running a clean type of preset (think jazz). I think the solution may be to find an always on type of drive or boost block in the FX8 to give the Powerstage a bit of character. Could anyone give me some ideas as to what drive blocks I might try and where I should put them in the signal chain?
