Powering the AM4

Is anyone using 2 x 660 9v from the CIOKS to power the AM4?
The Crux should be able to handle the AM4 with ease. I wanted to note for posterity that two parallel 660mA outputs from the Cioks is not powerful enough for the AM4, although it works fine for the VP4, which runs at a lower clock rate. Cliff announced Fractal is coming out with their own DC power supply, the DCPS-80, which includes three 1.5A outlets, so that will be another solid option once it's out in the wild.

Subtle marketing right there. Three 1.5A outputs means you can build a board with an AM4 and two VP4s…
I would think that definitely qualifies as overkill. My way of thinking is that redundancy is a positive; having an extra outlet or 2, depending on what you're running, is a big positive. I can't imagine ever needing more than an AM4 and VP4. If I was going to run heavy presets with multiple parallel routing, I would just go for the AFX3. It handles all of that perfectly without breaking a sweat.

Also, you can look at Sweetfoot Pedals for any number of pedalboard power supply options. Just reach out to John. I've had a positive experience ordering from him. I'm sure he could build you one that would suit your exact needs (plus USB power ports).

I'll be curious to know the price of the Fractal, and am planning to order one. That and the AM4 are very high up on my list.

Hi Guys:

Curios would it be ok to use this Canvas Power5 or just stay with power cable supplied ? thanks much

Would just look neater in setup why I'm asking

If you use Canvas Power HP, you will get an output of 3A.
I power my VP4 with Canvas Power HP and it works without any problems.

This Palmer power supply has a 9V 2000mA output, but is not isolated. Would this be ok to power the AM4? Or would it generate noise or other unwanted behaviour alongside some analog pedals?
The product manual says this:

3. DC OUTPUT
Non-isolated 9 V DC output with up to 2000 mA output current for effects units with high current requirements and external power supplies (e.g. PWT04) that do not require an isolated and filtered power supply.

The other outputs are all isolated...

I'd guess that the AM4 doesn't require an isolated power supply, but I don't know.

I guess that's the question to answer.

This setup provides 2.0A for the AM4 from a Cioks DC7 or Eventide Powermax!
AM4 requires 1.5A power supply so plenty of headroom with this method.

Hi- I am interested in the palmer power supply mentioned above to power an AM4 on the non isolated high power supply and some analog pedals on the others.

Be very grateful if anyone who has tried this could confirm it is not noisy (hum/hiss) etc?

thankyou
Nick

I have one ordered for this purpose. It should arrive within a week.
