just trying to see what everyone is using to get their guitar into their axe-fx. If you could say what style music you play and why you like what you use that would be great too.

Re: Favorite front input instrument cable?

I use a Vox coily cord that I modded with a Neutrik NP2RX-AU-SILENT right angle switching plug and a regular 1/4" straight Neutrik.

I just play for self-amusement, though.

Re: Favorite front input instrument cable?

Call me snobbish if you will, but I use only UL listed lamp cord, poked thru the solder holes on the terminals and then twisted counter-clockwise exactly 3.7 turns, followed by a generous application of 1/2" 7 mil plasticized PVC electrical tape with an aggressive rubber resin adhesive. I tried the 3/4" but it sucked too much tone.

Re: Favorite front input instrument cable?

I know a lot of people think cables are a load of "snake oil" but I'll tell you to grab a stock cable off the shelf and A/B it with a Lava ELC and the difference in the amount of high end available in the ELC is very apparent. I actually don't like the ELC because there is too much high end lol, I'm now just trying to dial it out so at that point i'm just going to use a different cable. And it's not in my head. I went to band practice last night and tried out my ELC with out telling my band and after the first song the singer and drummer both looked at me and asked me if I changed my amp settings because it sounded really trebly. So I switched back to my old Klotz cable and everything was back to normal. I'm not saying there isn't a lot of cable technology that's BS. I'm just saying different cables certainly do sound different and some sound almost the same.

Hendrix used long coiled' cable as it gave the exact tone he wanted, hard to find those old
leads now, we hated em' :p swore at em' he swore by em' :D

well added Vovox to the poll since everyone loves them lol. I've never used one can any of you Vovox guys share some info on them?
