Platforms for MIDI control of Axe Fx III

I've had years of good experience with BandHelper, running on iPads, playing backing tracks sync'ed with MIDI tracks that control all Axe, keyboard, and mixer changes, as well as lights (via MIDI->DMX). It includes tools for performance (e.g. automated scrolling lyrics) as well as setlist / gig management.

You need to camera adapter (OTG?) and a USB cable.

How do you get to to MIDI from the iPad?

We use an iConnectivity Audio2+, connected to the iPad via a lightning cable (lightning to USB). This routes both MIDI and audio (for backing tracks) from the iPad to downstream systems, and also supplies power to the iPad over the same lightning cable. (We have a second Audio2+ on a separate iPad dedicated to the lightning control app, and also nice as a spare in case the main one fails.)

A possible setup constraint: the lightning cable is officially maximum 10' per Apple, though I found a 12' cable (from 'Naztech') that works fine, implying the Audio2+ has to be within this cable length from the iPad (not an issue for our compact duo rig).

Try use Reaper (with SWS extension). It has everything, what we need. And it's not expensive.
