Looking for some ideas here. I have gone through a number of swaps over the years with my Axis. I will always regret selling the OEM pups. Currently I have Suhr Doug Aldrich set loaded and they are very hot and compressed. I've quite enjoyed them but looking or something with less output and more clarity. My main style of playing would be Classic/hard rock and whatever I can pull off in between.
Here are some of the ideas I've come across:
Bare Knuckle Pickups - Crawlers
- I've had the Rebel yells before in my old JP and sounded great.
Suhr - Thornbuckers
Dimarzio -Transitions
I want something that will deliver great gain/high gain but still very clear and articulate with note separation. I find the Suhr D. Aldrich pups are too much output and the notes bleed into eachother ..mostly due to my crap technique I'm sure.
I'd love any suggestions and/or comments on the above choices if you have any experience with them. Additional ideas welcome too...
