Perform mode on FC-12

First I apologize if this question is in the wrong discussion. I am using my FC 12 in the perform 1 mode... I have 3 patches set up p1-Evh, P2-Marshall, and P3-Fender... when switching to the "effects layout" which is perform mode 2 it brings up my effects... I set up my drive 1 in P1 EVH let's say... than I switch to P2 marshall and set drive 2 for that patch... when I switch back to P1 Evh preset it has turned off the drive 1 in the EVh preset... same thing happens with the Fender Preset... am I doing something wrong. It seem that the drive will only work in one preset??? I'm sure it user error.. just not sure what I'm doing wrong
 
Effects are saved on or off by the preset, not the FC. If you want an effect on when you go to a preset, turn it on then save the preset.

The FC controls what the preset has, it doesn’t override anything.
