I think it's an interesting idea. I guess one could use this to switch quickly between songs in a set for the magnet that suits best.

There have been several designs for interchangeable pickups and none of them seem to have gone very far. I think the problem is that guitarists are quite happy to have different guitars for different sounds - hell it's how many of us justify buying more guitars!

But I think the modular nature of these is interesting and if they were to position them as allowing for easy customisation they'd have more success. One thing guitarists love nearly as much as new guitar is customising them. For instance if you could combine a Telecaster coil with an underwound PAF coil and an A6 magnet to create the perfect pickup just for you. (I know that's not possible now and they'd need to make them more modular.)

3rd Power Amps makes pickups that have a different magnet for wound and unwound strings for clarity; that could be awesome.
