Noise gate and sustain

Has anyone had an issue with the input gate affecting sustain?

Most of my presets are at the factory default with regards to the input gate.

I'm a bit ignorant when it comes to setting up the values on each parameter so I pretty much have left it alone. I do have a substantial loss in sustain compared to just plugging in directly to the amp.

it's very purpose is to cut the signal off below a certain threshold...if that's set too high it will kill your sustain. ratio plays a part as well

If all values are set fully counter-clockwise is the gate essentially off?

Also, I messed with the threshold and I’m still losing sustain, tested against bypassing the unit.

I’m using the “intelligent” setting.

Can anyone post their settings that work for them?

Also, would the pad input for the guitar have any effect on the outcome?

If you turn it on you will always lose sustain at some point. As mentioned, that's what it's job is.

Lower Threshold to "off" and it will have no effect.

You can also add a compressor block to help increase sustain.

Thanks.

I do remember on my AxeFx II when I turned the threshold all the way down it would say “off”. On my FX8 it doesn’t read “off” it reads -100.

Also, on the global settings my Noisegate offset is a 0 dB. I think that’s where it should be.
