No good blues rock sounds? Why?

How about a Fender Super Reverb boosted with a TS808.
Are you able to get that sound through your current set of cabs using some other amp setup? I'm guessing not.

I don't get it. The axe isn't going to magically compensate for the other things in your signal chain. In fact that's whats' great about it - it acts like a real amp. Plugging a Marshall into a Boogie Cab will not sound like a Fender combo, so why do you think an Axe-FX into a Thiel will sound like a Boosted Super Reverb? If you want the tone of a Fender cab, you're either going to need one, or you're going to need to let the Axe-FX model one and then listen to the output through a Full-Range-Flat-Response setup.

The Axe does what it does very well, but it doesn't have mystical powers.

Strumbringer,

I could not have said it any better, myself. Until people understand the best way to use an AXE FX for the result that they're trying to achieve, they're going to be disappointed. Again, I couldn't have replied about this situation any better than you just did. Well said.

I think it does have mystical powers. It has the ability to make me want to blow off work and stay home and play :o .

For blues tones, I'm really diggin the plexi model with just enough gain. It cleans up really nicely, and has a thick rich character to it. As for hitting SRV tones, I've never been able to do that on any rig I've had. I really believe a lot of his sound was him - fingers, style etc. But there's no doubt in my mind that great blues tones are to be had in the axe 8-)

If anybody's looking to achieve nice bluesy tones, do not neglect the JM45 model ....

I really like this one as well as the Brownface for my Strat, i could also talk about Top Boost, or the Mr Z 38 SR depending on the vibe or color i'm looking for.
Don't hesitate to browse through many cabinets, combining them sometimes and/or using some eq after the cabs.
Also, play with key advanced settings like tranformer matching, power tube bias, power transformer freq response. It's all there to nail, or at least approach what you're looking for.
