No amp

I had a really basic setup dialled in: fuzz/drive->amp->cab->reverb

I went to disengage the drive pedal but mistakenly disengaged the amp. The sound was actually quite awesome, in a classic rock kind of way.

Does anyone do this intentionally to achieve certain tones?

Shoot me down in flames but I quite enjoy playing without a cab block at times. That gnarly spitting sound reminds me of early classic rock tones that elude me using the usual amp->cab routing. Sounds way better for fuzz than the actual fuzz models in the Axe, imo. Clean tones can sound awesome also when going direct with no cab.
