My Dad passed away one week ago today. I lived with him full time and had been taking care of him for a number of years. He told me that when he got out of the hospital, he was going to buy me a new guitar, but he never made it back home. Gibson CS Explorer.

Sorry for your loss but his spirit will live on in your memories and every time you pick up that guitar .
 
Back in the 70's when I was barely out of high school my dad lent me $300 so I could buy a Micro-Frets Signature (the model Mark Farner played). Micro-Frets had declared bankruptcy and was clearing out their guitars. When I went to pay him back he told me to keep it. He died shortly after from bone marrow cancer. I always believed he knew he was sick when he bought me that guitar
