New User Advice Request: Approaching this tone?

Hello, I'm about a week into owning my Axe-FX Standard and really digging it. Right now I'm going through my old clips and trying to capture tones from some of my favorite old amps. I have one that I am not really sure where to start on and wanted to hopefully get some input:

This is the B Channel of the EG5 module in an Egnater Mod50

Here is an attempt that that tone from another amp, the VHT SigX (Lead Channel):

In both of these clips I was going for a tight/punchy/articulate OD tone that has enough upper mid/high emphasis to cut well in a live mix. Any advice on how to achieve this on the Axe-FX would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

It sounds to me like the voicing you're after might be in the SLO 100 or Recto amps. Try running that into the V30 cabinet. From there it's just tweaking like you would with any other amp, except you can tweak way more stuff if you feel you want to. Definitely experiment with all the cabinets to get an idea for how they sound, I just happen to like the V30 and think it would go well.

Is this the right place? I don't want someone to make a patch for me, just give me some pointers on how to get started.

Most folks requesting tones are in this section. It's the 'go-to' place to either get or craft tones.

To your question, I'd take a look at similar amps in topology, start there. Get into the advanced parameters and start crafting by trial and error.
