New Ultra User - Combo connection question

Quick question:

I have just received my new Ultra. Very excited. However, my FBT 8ma won't be here, well, till it is here.

Can I use the AxeFX as a effects unit only if my amps do not have an effects loop? The manual looks like it is only setup through the effects loop.

If so, how?

Yes, but it will be like running pedals into the front of your amp.

So then it is just a simple line in/line out connection and shut down the amp/cabs in a preset?

Yes, guitar into Axe-FX front input, then Axe-FX output into your combo. Beware of levels, the Axe-FX put out very high levels (and your combo is expecting very low levels).
