New Suhr Pete Thorn Custom HSS

The Gotoh 510 TS with locking saddles and the Wilkinson VS1300 are joint best IMO and the 1996 Steeler and 1984 are pretty similar in floyds.
A debate on any alternatives would be a good thread but come with an evidence based argument around the merits of the design and execution.

Some of my first guitars I started with had original Floyd locking and I was used to abusing the snot out of them....now I'm pleasantly surprised how well some of the gotoh bridges perform. I have the Wilkinson VS130 on my Charvel DK24 Pro mod and I have not had a string break yet. I'm very happy with it. No fussing with the locking nut or fine tuners on bridge like on my EBMM Axis

No mention of the lack of locking studs. It is probably made at the Korean factory that makes their tuners.
It says there are locking studs...

I did notice that the trem socket appears very long but that could be an optical illusion. Also, it doesn't appear to have a screw at the bottom so probably not the nice push-in + threaded Gotoh style.

Edit:

I see @OrganicZed already posted about the studs.

Here are a few pics of the new Suhr trem from my guitar. Note that there's no Suhr brand marks on it.

I do remember when owning my old Garnet Red PT Standard it was a Gotoh bridge with Wilkinson saddles and I asked Suhr at the time why it wasn't a Wilkinson bridge with Wilkinson saddles and they said it was more than likely when the guitar was made during Covid there wasn't any Wilkinson bridges available so they used the Gotoh one instead.

That was the best option before the locking Gotoh saddles came out.

Definitely! My newer PT HH and HSS both have the Wilkinson bridge and saddles and I don’t find there’s much of a difference between the two. Both are very good with the locking saddles.

Interesting! I wondered why I could buy strap buttons for my Suhr guitars from all parts. Now I know why! So the same manufacturer but without the Suhr name stamped on them.

Yes. Almost all guitar company branded hardware comes from a few third party manufacturers that usually sell to other brands and also themselves. The FU2 bridge above is another example . Sometimes they make stuff exclusively but not often.
