Your wife is excited about DT? You definitely married a unicorn. My wife will tolerate a lot of what I listen to but she is definitely vocal against DT and Rush. When I found out that my neighbor is a DT fan and asked me to go get tickets with him, I said to his wife, “you’re not a fan, are you.” She said, “Did he tell you how much I can’t stand them?” I told her no, it was just an educated guess.

She used to really not like them. But a few years back, she went through a musical boredom. She said, all the new music is boring. She got stuck listening to awake and images and words all the time. Now she loves their music. My almost 3 year old twins love dream theater too. We listen to it in the car a lot and they always start to jam and point out the drums and guitar solos.

Btw: Rushs limelight was the first song my boys ever heard. When we took them home from the hospital and had them in the car, i put on limelight.

Even previous tours his cabs for the PA were miked off stage from what I can remember. He only had stuff on stage for visual and some 1x12 at his feet for air/feedback.

He's had his amps off stage for a while now. On his last solo tour he did have them out front though. And I was right up front, they were directed right at me, and they sounded spectacular!!

Agreed 100%. And to be honest, if I had the road crew he has, playing the venues they play I would be using tube amps with the Axe Fx III in 4CM stereo.

I’m not knocking Fractal, It’s the perfect tool for what I do and I love how it plays and sounds. But two 100W half stacks cranked to the sweet spot can’t be denied….

Not for nothing, but so is this forum. Not 100%, but close. I know women play guitar too, so i assume they play modelers. It's odd.

First night I invited my ex-wife to my place for an after work party, we were playing Guitar Hero when she saw our DVD’s and so “You like Dream Theater? Mike Portnoy is my favorite drummer, I listen to A Change Of Seasons on the way to school every morning” (she was in college then). She was a punk drummer, her drum teacher gave her a copy of Seasons and she loved it. She surprised me at the wedding by walking down the aisle to a loop of the intro of it.

…..and damn near ruined the song for me once we got divorced!

There are plenty of female DT fans, especially these days. Instead of it just being the girlfriends of fans, it’s now the daughters and in some cases, the daughter’s kids!

I have a buddy who's also a huge DT fan, and he says his 4 yo daughter loves watching Budokan!!

Just saw them in NYC in March. Tried many times, but just can’t bond with the new album, although I think Bend the Clock is spectacular. Will probably skip them this time around.
