need new case- XL and matrix 3u or 4u for heat ?

so I have my XL in a gator 2u . now I'm using gt1000 1u I need a new case

I don't foresee needing another rack space. My only concern is if its better for airflow to get a 4u to have a bit more breathing room form the XL and the matrix ?

I know they are both well made items but they do put out a bit of heat ? all begin equal I;'d rather get the 3 as its a little smaller
 
The XL and the Matrix will be fine in a 3u, not much heat (if any at all) is generated by either unit... but get a 4u! There's always something you might want to add later on!
 
I carry my AxeFX in a 4 space rack. It's not much bigger than a 3 space rack, and it's handy having that spot available in case you decide to go with an additional unit.
