Need advice on creating a digital recording station w/ Axe-Fx II

So, I have a lot to learn with the Axe-Fx II - I'm still having fun just with the presets! :)

This is what I own so far in an attempt to set up a digital recording studio. I'm an amateur at best, but still want to make sure I get the right gears:

iPad 2 w/ Auria App (Also own a MacBook Pro w/ Reason)
AKAI MPK49

Need to buy:

Apogee 2 or RME Babyface
iPad Camera Connection Kit

Any advice on recording with Axe-Fx II would be appreciated given my current gear!

I would suggest to buy Apogee duet 2 and Logic Pro 9. I have iMac, Apogee duet (older version) and Logic Express (the same features as Logic Pro 9). Logic comes with a great collection of loops, samples, instruments and effects. Basically everything you need for a pro home studio IMHO!

Why do you need an Apogee? You can record via USB direct using the Axe FX 2.

If you really want to get into recording and are comfortable with the Mac platform, get a barebones Macbook (which comes with Garageband which is AWESOME for us beginners) and invest in some decent studio monitors (I run the M-Audio BX5a and am thrilled with them). With that set up you can really record to your heart's content. Best option for a n00b imo.
