NCD: Part 1

Sorenspete

Inspired
I sold my oversized recto 4x12 and took a chance on the split-back vertical 2x12, and I wasn't disappointed.

As soon as I plugged it in and used the same preset I used the recto cab for, it sounded great.

Plus, let's be honest it looks cooler too!

About an hour after played through it for the first time, I got back to Better Music in AUS (I'm in New Zealand) and sent payment for a second one.

Boys, we're so back - and in stereo.

One thing I noticed is that it's really not 'unfocused' nor does it lack tightness - it can absolutely do metal but obviously if you're a metal guy you're probably going to use a closed back cab. For me, I play stuff like Dire Straits and Toto a lot, so these cabs I think will work fantastically for it.

That's a BIG 2x12, yes?
Or is my perspective off?
Last 2x12 I had was an EVH 5150 III and it was pretty much the same just horizontal, but yeah I think that's how they look to a lot of people, but I think it's just that it has the same design as a 4x12 that trips people up. I dunno - I haven't owned a lot of 2x12's so maybe the EVH was big too. Maybe if you put the Boogie on its side it would still be taller than the EVH? Could be.

Which do you like best: the Suhr reactive load or the Two Notes/Torpedo?
The Two Notes was more appropriate for what I was doing: attenuating an amp before going into a cab. But the Reactive Load IR would be absolutely incredible with a DAW + studio monitors setup. I think I should have bought the Fryette Power Station tbh.

I think the old ones had the EVM12L's in the bottom, right? The new ones have dual M-C90 Black Shadows. Brand new EV's cost $1,000 dollars so right now that experiment is out of the question.
Yes, they had the EVs. I swapped speakers a lot and liked them best with V30s.
