My rig:
Fractal AXE FX 3
Fractal FC12
Fractal EV1 Expression Pedal
3 Boss 500v Expression Pedal
Pod HD 500x/ James Tyler Variax JTV89f Guitar
Les Paul Custom

I run the Pod HD500x through the fx loop of the Axe FX along with the Variax but I do not use anything from the Pod except the line signal with the guitar model and alternate tuning. It sounds amazing and there is no better simulated acoustic than this. I will make a video of this soon if anyone is interested
