Oh you'd be surprised, I was. I rehearse with it and it gets plenty loud. I am VERY surprised by it, and I only use it to raise hairs on my legs on stage as I run in ears mostly.
 
Is it imperative that you have to run the power amp on the FM in your studio? It just seems like it would be a lot easier to run a small mixing board to get your sound to happen through the amp and cabs you have running the AFIII.
 
I don’t quite understand the reasoning for separate power amps for the fractal units as that is complicating the whole setup. As yek said, a single SPDIF cable for stereo between the FM9 and AX3 would eliminate the need for a switcher altogether. Two SPDIF cables would allow you to never even disconnect the instrument cable from the AX3 as the FM9 would be in a digital loop of the AX3.

But even so, switching between several speaker-level sources is certainly possible. Even something as simple as the Radial Headbone will do it, one for each cab.

Tim Pierce uses this to mix and match between multiple heads and cabs independently. You’d need two for your stereo setup.
