Midi connection question

I am mounting a laptop in my live rig and would like to have the laptop and my pedal board connected to my ultra at the same time. How can I do this? I already have a usb to midi converter, but not sure what other hardware I need.

I suppose you have to use the midi thru in your pedalboard/adapter.

I'm using a Rocktron All Access. The laptop will be used exclusively for editing the Axe-FX, so I need to have upstream midi control coming into the Axe-Fx from the pedal board and through to other midi devices in the chain, the laptop will need to have upstream and downstream communication with the Axe-Fx. My goal is to be able to do this without having to re-patch the midi cables. Too bad the Axe-Fx doesn't have a usb port. I would have paid an upcharge for the option if it were available, but I'm sure it would required additional memory and processing to accomodate.

btw, I'm using a 1x1 usb to midi adapter, no through put.
