Did this go away for the AX8 or is it in a different place now. And if it did "go away" does this mean that there "no mic", the "NULL" mic or some other mic type always in use.
 
It was never really in the AX8 - It was included as a parameter in the earliest firmwares, but it did not do anything. The AX8 has too little CPU to run the mic sims. In Ax8, you can turn proximity on or off and adjust it, but there is no mic simulation. However, most IRs today have a mic baked in (i.e. they are recorded with a mic).
 
As above, it is not a feature in the AX8.
Having said that I never used it in the AFXII - the IRs have the mics baked in.
