MFC not displaying Axe presets . . . tried everything.

One MFC down. And upon getting another MFC 101 mk 3, I cant seem to it to display any presets.
I'd always used 7 pin midi.

I'd updated to the newest FW. Worked.
Rebooted
Factory reset. Worked
Tried old set up & cables - nope
Tried 5 pin midi cable that worked for FW update. - nope
Plugged 5 pin in w/ MFC power supply direct. - didnt help
MFC - set to Midi

Chk'd AXE XL+ . . .
the Real Time = All
USB adaptor = OFF
I / O > midi > MFC port; Disabled ( I see only choices are DISABLED, FASTLINK, EHTERNET I think)

Tried w/ both my AXE II XL+ and Ultra.

Worse case is I get the dreaded "All Lights are on and Red". Best I can get is the MFC slowing changes the number on the Axe.
But no preset loads.

Have you tried with an XLR cable?

Using a XLR cable (with no power supply plugged !) is great for the xl, but for sure it's not ok for your ultra.
The thing that makes the MFC show the axefx presets is the "axefx mode" in its setup, plus I don't know if the midi cable is bidirectionnal or if you need to plug a 5 pin cable the other way to the midi in of the mfc for it to work ???
