Check this quick tone test I did trying to capture the Metallica "Black Album" vibe, using ESP Eclipse and Axe-Fx Ultra.

That is a great tone! but if you are shooting for the real deal I am not sure if your quit there yet.

A bit of a late reply, but a great deal of James' tone is with how he picks. You've really gotta give it to the strings, so that the attack lingers through the palm mute. You've got a pretty awesome tone going there, though!
