Manual controller vs. Global Blocks

I work a lot with global blocks - I love the consistency they give me across my many song-specific presets. On the other hand they can also make you feel very locked in.

But then I was thinking, that I could tie a manual controller to the "input gain" on my delay block. That would allow me to set the delay level individually for all presets while the delay block remaining local. (I run all delays and reverbs on parallel paths with mix set to 100%). I would do the same on the input gain to my spring reverb block, and maybe even the level and drive on my drive block.

Would that be a good way to get more freedom while still using global blocks? Do anyone already do this?
