Major USB issues - Help?

Hi guys, my Axe FX2 has been recording fine and dandy via USB for a few weeks, yesterday I went to record and this horrible sound below is what came out. I let the chord ring out at the end to show it is not a clipping issue, as the clicks and pops continue right along regardless of volume.

At first I thought a reboot of the Axe would fix it it, that didn't work, so I restarted windows, that didn't work, so I thought I'd try it on a mac, same thing, same warbly clicky poppy mess. I'm now worried that my Axe's USB interface is b0rked.

Any ideas?

Have you tried also a different USB cable ? It's worth trying some different ones.

No, I'll do that tonight. I hope it is that.

Any chance CPU utilization is over 90%. USB adds CPU resources and I've run into problems with cracks and warbles when that happens. Just a thought.

Does quality of the USB cable matter or will any old do? What do you guys recommend?
