Created this tread for people to share some amps and tricks they use for extended range guitar.
My go to amps for 8 string:
Metal Amps:
Das Metal: Good all rounder
FAS Modern: Can be fizzy but good for low tuning, I use for Drop D and Drop C ( on 8 string )
CornFed: Gotta try this amp more but it is a must try
Clean Amps:
Shiver Clean: Great for Cleans and Jazz
USA Pre Clean: Very Transparent
Tone is in the speaker/ Impulse Response. The speaker or impulse response is the last filter in a guitar chain ( traditional guitar chain at least ) and can drastically change your tone, far more so then any thing else. so before trying another set of pickups try a different speaker or impulse response, I recommend checking out Otto Audio for their ir packs.
EQ i typically run a eq last in my chain which i use as a "guitar cleaner", taking away gross frequency's. Taking away some 4k, 1k5, 340hz and some high and low cut.
