First of all, the FM9 manual is extremely clear, detailed and well written. its fun to read as well which to me is the mark of a good tech manual.
I was just wondering if it would be possible to have a config page on the FM9 with all the setup options (or shortcuts to the actual pages) from the manual for "one page" quick access to all the common things you might need to change when going to a live gig not knowing what kind of environment will be available to you to plug into. And if you don't bring the manual with you as a pdf!
I suppose if you're playing the same place every time you know exactly what you're connecting to and it's not a big deal as its always the same setup, but showing up to different events and locations you don't always know in advance or have time and it's a panicky "what do i press again" without the manual for some to make sure you're getting the best sound at the gig...
Links to some of these pages might be helpful on one "live gig setup" page for example:
(Page 2) Output Levels:
If you are connecting to professional-grade equipment operating at +4dBu, set the output levels as follows: Page SETUP: I/O: Audio Set the desired Output Level (1 or 2) to +4dBu.
(Page 6) Mono vs. Stereo:
To switch to dual mono, open SETUP: I/O: Audio and set Mode for the desired output to “COPY L->R”. To switch to summed mono, open SETUP: I/O: Audio and set Mode for the desired output to “SUM L+R”.
(Page 30) NEUTRAL (“FLAT”) POWER AMP & GUITAR CAB
One setting you should change, however, is Output Mode, located near the top on the Advanced page of the Amp block’s edit menu. Set it to “SS PWR AMP + CAB”.
(Page 31) TRADITIONAL GUITAR POWER AMP & CAB
Navigate to SETUP: Global Settings: Config. Change Power Amp Modeling to “OFF”. Navigate to SETUP: Global Settings: Config. Change Cabinet Modeling to “BYPASSED”.
(Page 32) FRONT-OF-HOUSE + PERSONAL FRFR MONITOR
Instead of inserting the Output 2 block manually in every preset, use this simple trick: navigate to SETUP: I/O: Audio and change Output 2/Copy Output 1 to “ON”. Output 2 will now replicate the signal being at Output 1.
Other useful shortcuts to the Tuner page, or setting for AC Line Frequency, etc. (not that most of us go gigging continent to continent, and I suppose if you did you'd be able to afford a tech guy to do this for you anyways, but still....)
Just a thought. Maybe it's one of those things that the more you use it, the more you know where to dial things in?
