Everybody pushing everyone else is good for everyone.
Fractal lining up the three modeler's firmwares... presets...

... rapid-fire preset updates thereto. 2112 in a stadium...

Brought the H E A T. Too much excitement.

Fractal can now take a good month... off the clock. L6 is now sweating BULLETS!

(My Fractal fund just grew by $1000. Looking pretty respectable now)

16 Amps are enough if one of them is a 5150 :D
The new stuff looks great, but nothing I really need/want.

But I would be interested in an HX Stomp successor, if the sound and feel is better. On the old units it never was quite good enough for me …

...... because the most important thing for me as a guitarist is sound ......

I would just add that until people have the unit in hand, and demos and reviews and trusted opinions get posted, its sound and feel might be the worst or the best or something in-between ..... no-body yet knows - and we wont know for a month or two I guess.

Well, actually, I suspect L6 know as they clearly would have Fractal units to A/B against, as I'm sure Fractal have L6 / QC / Kemper units to A/B against.

I enjoyed watching the live show. It was like an Apple event for guitar players :) Sound may be too early to tell but I really hope they do improve on what the "OG Helix" offers. It will only drive up innovation as a whole and make it better for us.

I’m surprised at all the responses here. I’m guessing Cliff and team have heard murmurs about the new helix long before. And they’re already thinking about how to make the next gen fractal products better.

I’m still running firmware 7 on my fm9. Just because I’ve been so happy with the sound, I haven’t felt a real urgency to update. Digital modeling is already way past the point of “convincing” imitation.

The only thing I can say I “like” about the new helix stadium without having tried or heard it, is it doesn’t come with a built-in expression. I think built -in expressions look so freaking cheap and crappy!

Yes sure.

I also have Kemper, Helix and Quad Cortex here in my studio.

It's really packed with features indeed but I want to hear the most important thing for me: THE SOUND!! The all "measure the wire to its last inch" is good marketing but how does it sound?? I confess that I'm a little "burned" with Helix because I had one and had a really hard time getting a good sound for my case scenario. So really curious if this "Agoura" is really a giant leap.

No one will really know about the Line 6 items until they show up. And their ambiguous availability, Fall and winter mean don't be surprised to see them in 2026 or later.

Line 6 is a publicly held company under Yamaha. Which means maximize profits. Look at all the variations of the Helix platform.

The Line 6 modelers are for mass consumption for the hobbyist, and amateur musician. And they serve their purpose. Top tier musicians use Fractal, because they want sound.

The UI interface comments always crack me up. I could care less. But then I leaned on 80's rack gear when the word UI didn't exist, and you had to use encoder knobs to change digits.

I have 20 tube amps and high-end ones. Since I got my FM9, I haven't touched them. The other day, I fired up my XTC which has a pedal board with a HX FX in the loop. I could not believe how shitty the HX FX sounded. I had gotten use to world class effects.

That did it, I am ordering a VP4

So many interesting features, but the question for me is: How does it SOUND, and more importantly, how does it FEEL?
Agree.

For the moment the stadium xl is the best control center many of us only dreamed about.

But absolutely no tones heard and I don’t like that.

Kemper did that, now Line6…

They had to do something, they had been left behind on the amp sim side years ago - but I don't like the design of this new one, still looks like a toy to me. And I don't care about all the crap they write about it, what does it sound like? That's the only thing that matters.

If they're just bringing Helix in line with fractal on the audio quality side then good for them, but unless they've moved the ball down the line noticeably, it doesn't change much in the modeler rivalry stakes

The big difference here is that Kemper’s new profiling engine, by their own admission, doesn’t exist yet. “Still work to be done…”. This new Agoura engine is done. The general public hasn’t heard it yet, but at least one high profile player has sung its praises.

What keeps my brows raise is, if they have at least some of the Agoura amps done, why not a sound sample? Or is just a "its not ready to show yet"? Perhaps some of the pros in the audience were recruited to shoot some video samples? Until I hear the new amps, it's just features... if the amp modelling is not that much better than the OG Helix, then I would not even consider trying it... even with the "Proxy" profiling, when I buy a modeler, I want the MODELS to be good. That's why I ditch QC.
