I had three Hercules stands, the ones with the squeeze grip to adjust height. On one, the plastic in the grip kinda disintegrated and the metal parts of the mechanism fell out of place. Made a greasy mess and wasn't repairable - at least not by me.

I've heard others have had similar problems.

The other two stands, same model bought at the same time, seem to be OK.

That's a $50 solution to a $2 problem (hinge door stop).

Not trying to be a downer, I applaud the creativity....but those stands aren't cheap.

I have the hinge door stops (pictured above) on every door in my house....because, well...kids.
