My God, did the interviewer talk way too much though! He interrupted John constantly with idiotic chatter. How to conduct an interview:

1. Ask a question.
2. Be quite and let the interviewee answer.
3. Repeat steps 1 and 2.

I speak from experience. I interviewed one of my former Berklee professors. I thought I'd make it "conversational" by interjecting commentary and levity throughout. In the end, it came off as distracting and, at times, irritating, and consequently made it straight to the cutting room floor.
