Issue with a friends AxeFx 2

A good friend of mine has a few month old AxeFx2... he's working on a record and has a timeline (he's not on the forums here so I thought I'd help him out)... well, his AFX just freaked out and essentially screwed up all his banks to the point that everything was named with symbols and such. He got an overload message when this happened and it never "came out of it" even after a restart. We tried reinstallign the banks... that didn't work... we tried updating to FW9 which failed and now his AFX screen is blank.


What can he do?

Yes, axe edit... JUST to transfer the file which I've done with mine and it was fine. I've read in these forums from lots of folks that did it successfully so I figured it was safe
