Is the a preset to make an electric guitar sound like an “acoustic”?

As I mentioned HX Stomp had a good acoustic simulator and you could choose body type, etc. With my solid body electric tele I thought it was ABSOLUTELY good enough for live use.

The same company makes the Variax someone mentioned above (which uses a piezo im sure but still same algorithm).

Fractal is way better than the hx so im sure they could do a great one.
The Line 6 Acoustic Sim is just a model of the Boss Acoustic Sim pedal, not the same tech in the Variax.

Cool its made by the same people. Im sure there is some similarity in the algorithm, as I mentioned.

Just as all specific comanies- fractals, strymons, line 6, etc share similar algorithms.

Of course (the physical tech inside) a guitar is different than in a stomp box.

I've been down this road. My best advice is to:

1. The most economical choice is to get a piezo equipped guitar. You can get some very passable tones for live use (or even recording) by incorporating the FM3 and a good IR.

2. The more expensive (but realistic route) is to embrace a synth-access guitar, but you'll also need a synth unit. I've gone this route and couldn't be happier. You get the additional bonus of being able to emulate a multitude of other instruments as well.

Personally, I find that a piezo pick-up often sounds so far from the acoustic sound of the instrument, that I can get closer to the emotional response with an electric. Preset 362, Jeff gets ready, scene 1, bypass the comp, drive, chorus and enhancer. Amp A, Cab A and reverb A or B. With the tone controll at 2-3 and my EMG SA and or the split from my 89R, I find that the emotional experience with soft finger picking is closer to an acoustic than the rubber band sound often created by piezos.

I do this with a simple 3Sigma Gibson IR and the USA Pre Clean amp. For our rehearsals, it's easier than bringing a second guitar but for gigs, I run a real acoustic into the Tube Pre w/some GEQ.

This is an interesting topic. I was just messing around with my Boss MS-3 yesterday. I even made a video clip of it to show some friends. I have had the MS-3 for several years and really only used it for the 3 pedal loops it had for my pedal board into my plexi heads. I came across the acoustic simulator on it and thought it sounded pretty good. My next thought was...does the AF3 have one of those...no. They should! I think that would be beneficial. To me it would be much more useful with the AF3 because you could then double it with an electric, like what we hear in a lot of recordings. I'm not an acoustic player so I don't know how accurate it sounds but to me it sounded like an acoustic.
