Impulse response

I’m new to impulse responses’s. Once I have selected a spot for them on my axe fx 3 how do I pull the IR’s up to use them ? I know I can use them with FRFR’s but, can you use them through your cabinet ? I know it will color the mix. Any help would be appreciated.

The IR's (impulse responses) are used in the cab block. If you've added IR's to the unit, they will be in the user cab section. They are essentially, a snapshot in time of a specific cabinet, with specific speakers, with a specific mic and mic position. Use them with your FRFR. I probably would not use them with a physical speaker cabinet, as the IR is already doing that job of a mic'd speaker cabinet.
Also, if you're wanting to use a physical guitar speaker cabinet, you'll need a power amp (solid state or tube) to run it and no cab or IR block would be necessary.
However, you could run both... a cab block with IR to FOH and then a power amp and guitar cab on stage. Run each to separate outputs.

Ok, thank you. So, how do I pull up the IR I want to use from the user block that I stored it in ? Do I just go to the grid set up I’m in and out then add the amp and cab ?

Input 1 > amp > cab > output 1
Connect your FRFR to output 1.
Select your IR in the cab block. It'll be under "user".
Does that help some? I'm not at my unit currently.

Yes, that should help out. I’ll mess with it and see. Thank you.
