I'm willing to start putting together a FCB1010 Mega Guide..with your help!

Hey guys,

I'm relatively new to the Axe world, but, after a few months on hear I've learned a ton of things. One of them being that there isn't a clear, organized, one-stop place for questions regarding FCB1010. I'm willing to start organizing this, but would want some input from you guys on how to go about it. It would also be helpful if maybe people could post links (text would be better) here, so we could all start organizing a FCB Bible on this page, for me to then try to get a sticky up front.

What do you guys think? I know there's some great guides out there for setting the FCB up with FCBControl Center, Ripwerx, and onboard by the FCB itself. There's also a ton of resources around the form for the regular FCB, and the Uno mod.

fo sure!

I really don't know how it all should be put together, but one thing is certain! I NEED THAT GUIDE SO MUCH!

I sold mine, but a really good starting place would just be to have some default sysex files to share. I never understood why we didn't have more of that; I mean I can't count the number of times that someone posted these great setup ideas with 9000 word essays explaining how to program it when you can just upload it and then if you want to modify it you can do that. A great example would be one setup for scenes.

The other thing that I learned was that it was easier to move patches around on the AxeFXII than it was to reprogram the FCB1010. Just set it up for like the first 25 patches and you move those as needed.

Last thing that I'd recommend is to focus on the Uno firmware. It just makes a world of difference.

OK, real last thing....if you haven't already, join the FCB1010 and Uno Yahoo usergroups and get as much info as you can from there. They have the latest firmware (although you would need to flash the chip yourself) and more importantly just about any mod you may want to do like phantom power has been done and there are some guides even if some are just text documents.

Are you aware of this one? fcb1010 - UnO - Index

Yes! This is the guide that I initially used to set up my FCB with the Uno.

However, is there a specific place for users to post Ripwerx presets to do certain things? A gigantic troubleshooting guide? Mods all in one place? No! I'm starting to organize it into sections and the Uno- Index will have it's own tab for sure, along with the voes guys

My guess is the best place would be on the wiki

Well is there someone who has uploaded the file?

I have a modded fcb with the Gordius little giant module in. Adds tons of flexibility. I ll be happy to share ideas and files.

I'm about to push go on an EPROM chip now I have just purchased a fcb1010 to make the Axefx easier to us . ( not a gigging musician at present)

What is better for me chip wise eprom or uno?
I want patch switching and effects switching . Tap tempo and wah and volume . Easy as that . Are the two chips that much different ? I don't want to have to deal with deep editing to be honest

The uno chip is programmable to your hearts content with a dedicated editor. If you want to control more devices, I'd say Uno.

The Eurekaprom has more or less fixed functionalities for common effect processors including the Axe. Check out eurekasound.com to see if it does what you want. If you're just after axe control, I'd say eurekaprom, but you'll have to decide for yourself.

Thanks Martijne , I went for the eureka first . I can always change later . I'm just after the basics for now . Like I said I'm not gigging but I do take it to some gigs I tech in for spare backup setup . I'm hoping the basic start will help me get deeper into the live application of switching effects and presets then further I can get the other chip to try and see what I can do better .

I have the FB without Uno or Eureka chips and have managed to to get it to change presets, scenes, loops functions ,wah wah and reverb hold, all without an editor, so am wandering if these chips are worth getting. Would appreciate any views? Has anyone managed to program the FB1010 to do this:

Im unclear how to program multiple commands from one pedal switch, although I think I have done this unintentionally before!

I have not done the spill over but it is no big deal to program a cc# using the steps in this post (sorry I was gonna link a post here but I cant find it now It was a complete how to set up the fcb)(I think jimfist my have been op). you program 2 different functions of the switch by first programing change 1 then go back and program change 2 if not using selected switch for off and on. I no not have chips for my 1010 either but it is my understanding that you only gain better switch light response and a little easier programing with the chips. I personally have my upper switches for presets and lower for scenes and do not reprogram any more it works great that way. I'm sorry I lied I have fcb bank 2 programed as looper controls.
