ICONS sounds better than FM9 for only 300 €

Can't tell much at all from the video, but highly doubt that FAS would release a plugin that would devalue a HW Product. That said, Maybe the plugin and the hw need to be dialled in differently - As I understand it you can't share patches between the two anyway, either way, with a free trial give ICONS a go and see for yourself. I continue to be blown away by my FM9 MKii Turbo.

Edit: As mentioned, The FM9 has a lot more models and also more effects than the plugin (?) - At $300 + per ICONS pack, you're going to pay a lot for plugins that meet everything in the FM9.

The algorithms are the same. Any difference is in the Cabinet block. You can't put the mic in the same position and expect the same sound. In general the DynaCab HDs are brighter for a given position because the sampling radius is smaller. IOW, if you set the mic position to halfway it will be nearer the cap for the plugin vs. the hardware products.

In the original DynaCabs the outermost sample is actually over the surround and simply doesn't sound good. So we decreased the radius so that the outermost sample is at the edge of the cone.

thanks for the explanation and sorry for my mistake :)

I think there's just too much unnecessary YouTube content. I much prefer to spend my time listening to old vinyl records. That's much more interesting. ICONS is a great product. But how it ultimately sounds or doesn't sound also depends on the peripherals. I have some really great toys in my studio, including very high-quality monitors worth over €4,000. If I add my RME audio interface and my Mac Studio to that, then I have hardware worth another €4,000 on top of the plugin. So when I play the plugin, I'm playing on hardware worth more than €8,000. That's around $9,300. The overall latency and sound quality depend on the hardware. You can't achieve that with a cheap Focusrite interface and Yamaha H8 or Adams. It's as unlikely as traveling faster than the speed of light.

I tested it and what is claimed in this video is simply not true.
