I own a Axe efx 3 older version. I have a MFC-101 mark 3 pedal. How does the hook up configuration cable work? Do I use a 7 pin midi out from MFC into 5 pin midi in thru the AXE EFX III ?
Will it at least just scroll up sand down the presets from 1-100 ? Please help me thank you

The MFC-101 was designed for older hardware.

It doesn't work well with Axe Fx III and other new generation devices.

You can use midi and really only need a standard 5-pin midi cable (only 3 pins are used).

Connect MFC midi OUT to Axe Fx midi IN.

I never used it as a generic midi controller (which is what you'll need to do in this case) so I can't help much beyond this post.

I've used it with the Axe III, but it has limited functionality. Didn't get too
deep with it. I was just using it until the FC switches became available.
If you just need basic stuff, it should be ok,

It's been some years, so I don't remember just how I had it set up...

There’s a video on YouTube explaining how to do it…but anyway you will loose many of the facilities from the Axe3. It’s a bit tricky but is possible at least for basics…I was in the same situation and was really a mess…at the end the unit wasn’t mine, I was trying to buy it, but for many reasons I finished up buying an FM9. I will leave you a link…hope you can have a better experience than me 🙏🏼✌🏼👍🏼

Usually each time you update the firmware I noticed that it’s hard to sync this type of thing with Axe EFX III to MFC101 3 pedal. I just want to scroll up and down presets 1 to 10 that’s all I’m looking for. Is it true that each time you update firmware right? This does not apply anymore. This is outdated. Please let me know. Thank you

Updating firmware should never affect the ability to select presets.

Or really anything else you're controlling with midi.

Edit

Assuming you're asking about Axe Fx firmware? There really shouldn't be a need to update the MFC more than once - there hasn't been a firmware update in 6+ years, I think, and it's not a supported product so no more are coming.
