my gordius midi controller can do midi program changes from 1-127. so how do i call up a patch (for example 334) that is in bank C when i only have a range of 127?

also how do you guys arrange your banks?

You need to program a CC before the PC in order to select the banks. CC#00 is A, CC#01 is B and CC#02 is C. Once you start doing this you need to do all of your presets on your controller or else it will stay in the bank last selected. And it has to come before the program change; I know that for the FCB1010 that means that you have to use PC5 for it to work.

But once you get it working it works very well.

As for how I organize my banks; I'd say very poorly. :razz

uhuh thanks man. cool. i'd still like to hear how every one else arranges their patches. because i play both acoustic and electric through my axe. i am thinking of maybe having Bank A as gig patches (acoustic and electric) and Bank B as acoustic patches that i am working on and developing and Bank C for Electric patches i am developing. any thoughts of this?

Of course it would make sense to organize them and using the banks like you're talking about is probably as good as any. Personally I only use a handful of patches (maybe 20 total and about 6 that I use a lot) so having them scattered isn't an issue since I can access them via my footcontroller and I know which preset is which. I organize my foot controller's preset selection to do the organizing I suppose. Typically I start with a bank of 5 presets, first being clean, last being ridiculously over the top and everything in between for the other 3.

I think I've owned an Axe for over two years now, and I still don't have a coherent way of organizing my patches on the unit -- which is really weird for me, since I organize the hell out of everything else digital in my life

I definitely *do* recommend using Bank A for the gig patches as you plan though -- in case whatever controller you're using goes crazy and stops working, nearly all controllers should still be able to access anything in Bank A and so you could use any other random controller for a backup

How to Select Banks via MIDI

You need to program a CC before the PC in order to select the banks. CC#00 is A, CC#01 is B and CC#02 is C.

This is INCORRECT!

CC#00 is bank select.

It's VALUE determines which bank is selected.

CC#00, value 00 = bank A
CC#00, value 01 = bank B
CC#00, value 02 = bank C

CC#01 and CC#02 are not used.

Thanks for catching that; I was kind of tired when I typed it.

I apologize.
