How are you using X and Y settings?

Background: Ultra user about to embark on configuring a II. I would search past threads, but "x y" is too short for search engine validation.

I'm wondering how to use the x and y settings. Ideas so far are:
1. To compare before and after sounds when tinkering with settings
2. Rhythm and solo
3. Setting for different guitars within the same patch

How do you use x and y?

I use it for adding boost and bright settings or for a quick change between "same amp, different gain settings"

depends. sometimes for a totally different flavor of the same effect type. sometimes it's for slightly different settings of that effect.

I only use X/Y for amps - and its a psudo channel switch for low and high gain settings with different EQs/levels.

I should really use them for A/Bing before and after tweeked amp tones, but I havent dont that yet.

I attach a real simple few dollar pedal to the pedal switch in back, its just an old latch pedal I had, set it to toggle, somewhere in the axe menu.
