High CPU usage in Axe-Edit and kernel_task on macOS after Axe-FX disconnected

I use Axe-Edit on my laptop and sometimes I forget to close it after I unplug from my Axe-FX. Later when I am using my laptop I notice my fan kicks into high gear. Looking in activity monitor I see that Axe-Edit is consuming >50% of CPU and kernel_task around a similar amount. Closing Axe-Edit always fixes this.
