The preset I included on the OP includes 5881 tubes. Doesn't seem to make much difference on the Axe.

Is there another way to mimic the heater current / plate dissipation you mentioned? (I don't even know what either of those phrases mean or what they would do, but they sound cool. haha)

What you need to change is the transformer mismatch. 5881s have somewhat different plate load requirements. Also matters if Sovtek "5881" (very good tubes, but not terribly close to 5881 or 6L6GC specs) or some newer reissue that might actually approach the specs of a real old 5881/6L6WGB from the tube heyday....
