Help me quit the band

In my early days I was once informed by an 'elder' muso in the local scene that a band is only as good as the crowd they play in front of.

Me: Oh I see ... when's your next gig?

Them: Ummm .....

If you're here, you didn't make it.
Making and playing music is your career. It pays for your life and the lives of your dependents. It doesn't have to be any more convoluted than that.
Actually there are plenty of people on this forum who make a living with music. Some are making and playing it. Some are working in other areas like myself f.ex. :) Dweezil and Devin are two examples of people who Matt will fly to and they're forum members. But I do get your point nonetheless.

So interesting follow-ons from me sending my need-time-off email:

1) No one had any idea I was feeling this way (I guess I hide it pretty well...which honestly is just how I treat work in general so that's no surprise);
2) Others felt this way as well and I opened some floodgates for discussing this.

All good outcomes. My stress level is remarkably lighter now that I'm not stressing about having done zero prep work for rehearsal this week. :)

Get any equipment you have over there first, then just do it. Also, for @iaresee? I would definitely fly out and hang with the gear. We could go for "Roman Pizza" like we did the last time!
Aww man, I'm always down to hang when you're on the West coast. I go to that place on the regular now. It's sooooo good!
