Headrush 12 vs Alto TS312

FWIW

I own a Headrush FR12 and was looking for the 8 inch model for a little more portability. The store had no Headrush in stock but had the Alto TS308. Looking at the specs of both, the Headrush and Alto TS 3xx series are basically identical. Hearing both models afterwards, I haven't heard any difference. This is not Atomic Neo or other high end speaker but, when it comes to bang for the buck, both Headrush and Alto are pretty much interchangeable IMHO.

I liked my two Headrush FRFR12s. Then I built two f12-x200 celestion spec cabs. Omg...these things are amazing. The feel is unreal.

Dont mean to hijack this thread but can I see a pic, pretty please? :grimacing:
Here you go. I got speaker grills coming. Should have ordered online but sourced them at a local mom and pop music store...been over a damn month. Lol

I own the Headrush and my drummer uses the alto for his monitor. Physically they are the same but they sound a bit different. The Alto has more bass and the mids are a little more scooped. The Headrush works better for guitar imho.

Great job on these! Whats the power amp ur using?
Thanks. I'm using a Behringer epx4000 I got cheap. I usually don't care for Behringer stuff but this amp pairs great with these. Doesn't even break a sweat. Speakers are 200watts each. Power amp is a class H 540watts per channel. Lots of headroom and clean low THD power. Total build cost including the amp was around 650usd. Probably the best sounding/feeling budget solution for a modeler.

30 Lbs? WoW, that's a lot lighter than I thought it would be. It looks like you just used off the shelf 3/4" Ply, How did you arrive at your cab volume?
I used 18mm birch plywood, 4" green pvc, Peavey hardware, a barrel jack. Built them to celestions drawing you can download from their website. Finished them with Exohyde epoxy texture I ordered from parts express... really good stuff. Easy to apply.
Here's the PDF of the cab. It's all metric so u either have to get a metric tape or convert by multiplying by .03936 and rounding to nearest fraction.
